Veterans Programs

At Desert Recreation District, we are proud to support our veterans through programs, events, and opportunities that promote wellness, connection, and community. We are committed to creating welcoming spaces where veterans can stay active, build lasting friendships, and enjoy meaningful recreational experiences.

Mission Veteran Guitar Program

Veterans from all branches of service are invited to learn, engage, and build support systems that help manage service-related challenges. In our first year, more than 20 veterans graduated from the program, completing over 100 hours of lessons, jam sessions, and continued education. Participants learn the fundamentals of music theory, rhythm, strumming patterns, and scales.

Veterans Breakfast

We will celebrate all Veterans in the community by hosting a memorable time in the park. Families can enjoy a variety of activities including face painting, crafts, pancakes with toppings, and flag placement throughout the lawn.

Veterans Ruck Walks

Come out and participate in our Veterans Ruck Walks! Participants will carry weighted backpacks (rucks) over a designated distance, symbolizing the physical and mental challenges faced by service members. Whether you’re a veteran, active-duty military, first responder, family member, or friend, all are welcome.
