The Cathedral City High School pool is a sight to behold, it is huge and has amazing views, so we wanted to create a video to show off this amazing aquatic facility. We are thrilled to kick off our programming partnership with the City of Cathedral City and Palm Springs Unified School District by having our Dive-In Movie on July 16th. Bring your suit and watch the movie Encanto from the water. This free event is thanks to a partnership with the City of Cathedral City and The Palm Springs Unified School District. Parking is available in the lot off Dinah Shore road.

The first annual Desert Recreation Foundation Bowling Tournament took place Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Fantasy Lanes at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Indio. This year’s event raised funds to support our mission that everyone should have access to quality parks, recreation activities, and education programs despite the barriers of income or ability. One hundred bowlers participated and a great time was had by all!
Check out our video spotlighting Folkorico, which is a traditional dance from Mexico known for its colorful attire. The students and teachers have created an enthusiastic community of dancers throughout the Coachella Valley.

We are thrilled about the opening of our new park in Oasis, known as Oasis del Desierto (Oasis of the Desert). We created a video about the new location and how it is bringing a park to a community that has never had a park to call their own. We were excited to see the soccer field, basketball court and playground all filled with people enjoying their new park from the moment it opened.

DRD’s North Shore Beach and Yacht Club is assisting North Shore residents currently without power by offering a cooling center, WIFI access and food/water/ice giveaways.

Our ED REC CONNECT program is here to support working families in the Coachella Valley by offering a place for Kindergarten through 5th graders to access their school and have time for recreation in the after school hours, all while social distancing and other safety protocols are in place.
Our Chase the Ace Poker Run (October 12) is a day of riding and fun all for a great cause: helping those with cognitive and physical challenges. Desert Recreation Foundation’s Chase the Ace Poker Run will benefit Adaptive / Therapeutic programs!
This traditional dance from Mexico called Los Machetes has kids like Juan spinning with excitement. Baile Folklorico is held every Tuesday evening and is open to children ages 3 and up.
Children from the North Shore After School program have been practicing this traditional dance for months. They are performing at tonight’s grand opening event for the North Shore Community Park.
Our fantastic TeamGym performs for the crowd at the City of Indio’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of City Hall.
