Fairway Park in Indian Wells
Is now open!
Fairway Park, located at the corner of Eldorado and Fairway Drive in Indian Wells, is now open. The first public park in Indian Wells is a half-acre oasis designed to offer a serene environment for relaxation and leisure. The park features desert landscaping, accent rocks, a walking path, and shade trees, embodying the natural beauty and tranquility of the surrounding landscape. Palm Desert Community Center Renovation
We are currently under construction and anticipate completion by the end of 2024. The renovation will enhance the layout of the facility and update the look and functionality of the space, bringing our Palm Desert Community Center up to modern standards.
The current plans include expanding the lobby, converting the tot program room to a fitness room, moving the reception and administrative areas to the current fitness area, and the current reception area being changed to an activity room for classes such as dance and aerobics.
Shade Structures – Additions to existing Facilities
In recent years we have installed shade structures at locations including Parque de Pueblo, Huerta de Mecca, and La Quinta, Mecca, and Thousand Palms Community Parks.
Next, we will be installing a shade structure over the playground at Oasis del Desierto Park and we anticipate completion of this project by Summer 2024.
Shumway Ranch
Shumway Ranch sits on a 640-acre piece of land within the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains National Monument and was purchased by the State of California in 2017. Through the Coachella Valley Desert and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, the management, renovation, and restoration of Shumway Ranch is underway so that wildlife preservation continues while allowing the ranch to be appropriately accessible to the public for small group educational opportunities.
Thermal Community Park
Thermal Community Park is a 10-acre site designed by local residents with the assistance of Desert Recreation District, Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI) and Hermann Design Group. It will be the first community park in Thermal and is centrally located so outdoor recreation and programming is easily accessible to all residents.
Thousand Palms Community Park – Walking Path Lighting
Temporary lighting has been placed around the southwestern portion of the field until the permanent lighting project is awarded and built.
Plans have been approved and we are are currently working with a consultant regarding energy efficient lighting options.
