Shumway ranch vista

Shumway Ranch sits on a 640-acre piece of land within the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains National Monument and was purchased by the State of California in 2017. Through the Coachella Valley Desert and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, the management, renovation, and restoration of Shumway Ranch is underway so that wildlife preservation continues while allowing the ranch to be appropriately accessible to the public for small group educational opportunities.

With the Coachella Valley Desert and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority formed, 2021/2022 saw construction done to include a shade structure, restrooms, and grading and stormwater protection was performed.  Additionally, a well was added, and all of these improvements will enable the educational groups to access the property and have the amenities needed to do so comfortably.
