Shumway Ranch
Shumway Ranch sits on a 640-acre piece of land within the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains National Monument and was purchased by the State of California in 2017. Through the Coachella Valley Desert and Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (formed through a partnership of Desert Recreation District (District) and the Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy (CVMC)), the management, renovation, and restoration of Shumway Ranch is underway so that wildlife preservation continues while allowing the ranch to be appropriately accessible to the public for small group educational opportunities.
