To apply for a scholarship for FREE Lifeguard
Certification course through American Red Cross. This
certificate is available to interested applicants ages 16 and
older looking for employment with Desert Recreation District as a
lifeguard this summer.

World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (At Bagdouma Pool (Coachella) Fritz Burns Pool (La Quinta) Mecca Pool (Mecca) Pawley family aquatic complex (Indio)
Four of our aquatic locations will be participating in this global swim lesson to promote pool safety.
Take part in a global mission with DRD & Team WLSL, Bringing together tens of thousands of individuals from hundreds of communities around the globe to participate in the same lesson on June 20th to raise awareness about drowning and the fact that swimming is a vital life- saving skill that every child should learn.

Youth Swim Meet
DRD's 1st Annual Youth Swim Meet! This recreational swim meet is designed to prepare you for competitive swimming. Swimmers will experience team bonding, a friendly social environment.

Infant Swim Lessons – Parent & Me
Our infant swim classes help infants get comfortable in and around the water - beginning a lifelong love of water activities! Parents learn basic skills with their child. A parent/adult must accompany their child in the water.

Free Resident Swim Passes for Coachella Residents
Desert Recreation District and the City of Coachella are providing swim passes to Coachella residents for the summer. Each qualified applicant is eligible for one Open Swim Pass to Bagdouma Community Pool at no cost.
Each pass covers 10 entries into the Bagdouma Community Pool. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult to use the pass. Lost cards will not be replaced.

Bring the family or just yourself and come enjoy some time at the pool on Friday, June 13 and the best part is, it’s FREE!
Grade School Swim Classes – Penguins (1 &2), Stingrays, Barracudas, Sharks
Swimming is an excellent way to stay fit and active, and we offer five levels of classes for youth, based on age and swimming ability.
Penguins 1 & 2: Get children with little or no swimming experience started with the basics. Water safety, floating, kicks, arm action and use of legs introduce kids to this terrific sport. Penguins 1, ages 6 ½ – 12 Years Old. Penguins 2, ages 8 – 12 Years Old.
Lifeguard Pre-Qualification & Training Courses
Prepare to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.
Lifeguard Pre-Qualification - 1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. 2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. 3. Object retrieval is a timed swim event with a surface dive to retrieve a 10lb object then return to the start point in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Operation Splash Kick-off!
Everyone is invited to join us on Saturday June 7, 2025 at Bagdouma Community Pool for free open swim, refreshments and a demo from Lenny the Landshark.

Lap Swim
Competition lanes are open to guests to enjoy some time in the water swimming and getting exercise outdoors even when the weather is hot.

Our Open Swim sessions are a great time for kids to practice swim lessons, for moms and dads to join the kids for some recreation and fun, or for individuals to relax and refresh in the pool!
