Desert Recreation District Announces Dr. Gabriel Martin as New General Manager

INDIO, Calif., – Desert Recreation District (DRD) today announced the appointment of Dr. Gabriel Martin as General Manager, leading the agency’s mission to provide high‑quality parks, programs, and services for residents across the Coachella Valley.
Gabriel Martin, whose career has centered on service to
residents, strengthening community partnerships, and building
inclusive programs and places that bring people together.
Throughout his career, he has worked closely with parks and
community services teams, overseeing cross-department
initiatives, facilities planning, and partnerships to expand
access to safe, high-quality recreation. He brings a proven track
record of leading teams and collaborating with city, county,
nonprofit, and private partners to enhance quality of life across
diverse communities.
“On behalf of the entire Board and our dedicated staff, we’re
thrilled to welcome Dr. Gabriel Martin to the District,” said
Lindsay Woods, Interim General Manager. “Gabriel brings a
community first mindset and proven public service leadership.

continue delivering safe, accessible, and high-quality recreation
opportunities across the Coachella Valley.”
