Full Potential Sports Academy (FPSA) is offering group training at the Palm Desert Community Center each Saturday. FPSA offers age appropriate drills, game scrimmages, and an ongoing commitment to the development of your young athlete. This is a great way to get ready for the winter and summer seasons offered at DRD. Get off the couch and let’s play some ball!

Flag Football

Adult Flag Football League

Desert Recreation District’s Adult Flag Football 5-on-5 Passing League is the only adult recreation flag football league in the Coachella Valley, and we are growing! The Passing League is exciting and fast-moving. We are committed to providing fair, safe and competitive games week after week. All 40 minute games are played on an 80x30 yard field with first downs to gain. All players are eligible to receive the ball and interceptions can be advanced for yardage or points. There is even a division trophy up for grabs!

Individual registration only; players must specify on which team they wish to play at the time of registration. There is a maximum of ten players per team. Officials and game flags are provided.

Tennis Instruction

Drop-in Volleyball

Just for fun, we set up the volleyball nets on Fridays and invite our members to play. Bring family and friends and create a team or just show up and join in.

Co-ed Open Recreational Volleyball

Palm Desert Community Center is offering Coed Open Volleyball for all. New teams will be made each week for pick-up play Friday. Bring your family and friends and create a team or just show up. Two nets will be set up for recreational play and possible competitive play.

Drop-in Table Tennis

If you enjoy the game of table tennis, come join this competitive group! This is not just a game of ping pong. It’s a game that is ideal for everyone to play in either a recreational or competitive environment. Table tennis can improve quickness, hand/eye coordination and focus.

Archery

Archery is a unique sport anyone can participate in! Learn the fundamental aspects of Olympic-style archery. Archery instills success and confidence, a greater attention span, and a willingness to try other sports activities. Our instructors are Nationally Certified ed with years of experience. We will provide everything you need to safely practice archery while you stay cool in our indoor archery range.

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Program
The JOAD Program connects young archers to the world of Olympic and competitive style archery for both recurve and compound bow divisions. From intermediate to advanced archery, this program focuses on teaching all the major aspects of archery training. Participants must have their own equipment to enroll in this program.

Archery Saturday Special Shoots
Wondering if archery is right for you? Come try it yourself during our Saturday Special Shoots. Learn the basics of archery — we’ll provide everything you need to participate. Pre-registration strongly recommended for both sessions.

Summer Youth Basketball League

Come out and be a part of the valley’s largest summer youth basketball league! The District’s summer league has four age divisions to assure competitive and fair play: REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JUNE 2

Division A: ages 7 – 8
Division B: ages 9 – 10
Division C: ages 11 – 21
Division D: ages 13 – 14

Games are played at Indio and Palm Desert Community Centers. Team practices will be held on Monday and/or Wednesday nights between 5 and 8 pm. All Players in Divisions B, C & D must also register for Basketball Draft Day. Referees and team jerseys are provided. Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Younger teams play in the earlier evening games. TEAMS WILL TRAVEL TO BOTH COMMUNITY CENTERS.

Youth Basketball

Youth Basketball Draft Day

Draft Day is the first day of practice for all registered participants for Summer Youth Basketball. Only those registered for the Summer Youth Basketball League will be allowed to participate. Registration for the summer league will be accepted during Draft Day, space permitting. Each player in the upper divisions is asked to attend this one day event to assess skill levels and build on each player's ability. Draft Day is designed to balance teams and promote greater competition. Teams for the summer basketball league will be built after the Draft Day. Skillz 'N' Drillz Basketball Class

Do you want to improve your basketball skills but have limited time? Here is a year-round program that allows you to enroll for the month or drop-in when it's convenient, and learn about the game from one of our experienced instructors. Come all month long or just one day. This class offers you drills and quality instruction that will help you develop your basketball skills, whether you are a beginning or experienced player. A $10 Drop-In Fee Is Available.
