La Q -Scape, a hand designed copper agave sculpture fountain by Oregon artists Kim and Steve Davis, was selected by the Desert Recreation District, made possible and funded by the City of La Quinta for the La Quinta Community Fitness Center. The work becomes part of the city’s permanent art in public places collection.

The one-of-a-kind fountain was designed for the Center reflecting the city’s commitment to health and well being and for its renown as an art center.

La Q -Scape will be the focal point of the Fitness Center’s cardio section and features three in-line agave plants with adjustable height fountains whose water spills into a copper basin surrounded by large stones at the base of the work.

The Davis’ collaborate in Go With The Flow copper water fountains, using welding and braising techniques, copper, brass, silver solder, enamel, gemstones, acetylene and oxygen to achieve expressions of visual and tactile appeal. Sounds of water babbling, rushing and tricking are achieved through various design and plumbing techniques.

La Q -Scape won first place in the Utah Arts Festival in Salt Lake City this past June. The Davis’ are frequent exhibitors at the La Quinta Arts Festival and others throughout the country, and have public installations in Portland, Eugene, and Medford, Oregon, as well as private collections.
