PUBLIC NOTICE AND POSTING
DESERT RECREATION DISTRICT

The Desert Recreation District, in keeping with its ongoing efforts to serve all members of the community, is updating its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan and self-evaluation. The accessibility plan provides a comprehensive plan for access for individuals with disabilities to District facilities, parks, programs, services, activities and events.

The Desert Recreation District is seeking input from agencies, organizations and individuals with disabilities. As an agency, organization or individual, the value of stakeholder guidance will help to address and prioritize current and future needs. Individuals who would like to provide input are invited to complete a survey, call or email the ADA Coordinator. Surveys are available for organizations that represent individuals with disabilities, patrons, community members, employees, and other interested individuals who wish to participate in the evaluation.

Your comments and opinions are important to us and will provide valuable information regarding how the Desert Recreation District can better serve individuals with disabilities. Surveys can be mailed to you or are available at:

If nothing else, I recommend you visit one of the valley's many public parks. Get out in the fresh air, enjoy a walk or picnic, take the children to the playground or just find some shade and read. Whether you join us for one activity or several, we want you to enjoy yourself, learn something new and have a great time.

From all of us here at Desert Recreation District, enjoy the season and be sure to get out and be active your way, everyday!

Sincerely,

Kevin Kalman

Featured Artist

I have been making art in one form or another since I was very young. My working career has been spent in the art world, but not primarily as a professional artist. My company, Paradigm Arts Group, has specialized for 25 years in career development and marketing strategies for artists, arts organizations, fine art photographers, and boutique film companies

I have worked with talented artists at all levels of the art world, from those who are just emerging to important artists who have achieved international recognition.
I have a particular affinity for emerging artists, because they are serious about establishing themselves in the arts, are willing to work toward their goals, and through their art they bring us fresh visions and exciting new perceptual interpretations.

From a personal perspective, I have found making art to be a pure form of meditation. It allows me to step outside of the world for a short while, to stop the passage of time and become completely immersed in the creative process. A colleague of mine calls this experience ‘the only true out-of body
experience’ we will ever have

I have an art studio at my home, complete with a large high resolution printer with which I produce giclee prints of my own work and that of the artists with whom I consult under contract. I continue to experiment with many art forms: besides painting and drawing, I also enjoy photography, creating complex composited images, producing mixed media artworks, and sculptural assemblage pieces made from a wide variety of found objects.

Artistic exploration is what drives me. Constantly working with a group of highly talented artists is a unique collaborative experience that keeps my thinking fresh and inspired, and moves me through one artistic transition into another. Currently, I am exhibiting nearly 800 examples of my work on my website, divided into galleries by subject or theme. I hope you’ll like what you see there.
