Message from the General ManagerKevin Kalman

Hello!

Welcome to Desert Recreation District, where our services are delivered to you by an outstanding group of recreation professionals dedicated to providing you a safe and memorable experience.

As you browse through our extensive summer activity guide, we are confident you will find an activity, facility or event that is perfect for you. Whether you join us for one activity or several, we want you to enjoy yourself, learn something new and have a great time. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please give us a call and we will point you to one of our many community partners that may have just what you're looking for.

The Desert Recreation District is evolving. Like many of us personally, the District has been affected by our struggling economy. Because our primary revenue source is based on property values which continue to shrink, we have been required to reevaluate our priorities and how we provide services as we move into what appears to be the new “normal.” Over the past six months, many of you responded to our extensive public outreach efforts and provided us incredible insight into your parks and recreation priorities. This was the first step to laying out the District’s future direction. Your ideas helped us shape our updated community-driven mission, vision and values for a solid foundation. Our next step is to continue our community engagement with a series of needs assessment surveys that will further refine our focus in each of the communities that make up our diverse valley.

I hope you will choose to participate in this process as we continue to plan for the future of our valley’s parks and recreation services. Keep an eye on our website www.myrecreationdistrict.com for more information as to how you can get involved in the process.

Thank you for your continued support of Desert Recreation District and remember to “Be Active Your Way, Every Day.”

Sincerely,

Kevin Kalman
General Manager
