The Desert Recreation District is looking for passionate, enthusiastic, reliable and inspirational individuals who have the ability to make a difference through serving others. We are now hiring for the 2012 summer season.

Pool Manager
These team members are responsible for leading and supervising a group of lifeguards in day-to-day activities and responsibilities, and is characterized by having leadership qualities in the performance of general lifeguard duties.

Rate: $16.48 - $20.60/hr. depending on qualifications and experience.

Lifeguards*
These team members service our guests with excellence and ensure a safe and fun experience for all participants. Lifeguards also have the opportunity to become Swimming Instructors – contact us to learn more.

Lifeguard I - must be at least 15 years of age on or before the first day of certification.
Lifeguard II - Teaches aquatic and safety programs. Must be at least 17 years of age on or before the first day of certification.

Rate: $10.50 - $12.05/hr. depending on qualifications and experience.

* To ensure the safest environment possible for our guests, Lifeguards must have a current certification from the American Red Cross. No certification? No problem – we’ll provide you with the necessary training to become certified. See training information below.

Certification information: The Desert Recreation District is a proud supporter of the American Red Cross, the industry leader for Aquatics training. This state-of-the- art training includes AED and O2 administration, CPR, First Aid, and water rescue skills. Requirements: Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously (12 laps), tread water for one (1) minute, and retrieve a ten-pound object from a depth of ten feet and return with object and exit the pool with no assistance in 1 minute 40 seconds. There will also be a written examination, consisting of three sections, in which you must correctly answer 80% of the questions in each section.
